Event Description:

The primary focus of this event is to create awareness of the opportunities for large-scale climate action and encourage collaboration to implement this action.  Along with watching the recording of our event, we invite everyone to view the four related videos we created, which are shown on this webpage:
.

Our event began with a brief discussion about the latest news about rising greenhouse gas levels and why the UN is stating that countries “must start curbing emissions immediately“.  Then we discussed selected significant climate solutions that can be implemented on a large scale. This will include renewable energy with energy storage, green hydrogen and hydrogen that can be extracted directly from the earth (Geologic Hydrogen) along with complementary technologies.  To provide some background information about how the energy transition to a low-carbon economy can be accelerated with Geologic Hydrogen and complementary technologies, we produced this video, which is embedded on a webpage with links to more detailed information:

Accelerating the Energy Transition with Geologic Hydrogen & Complementary Technologies:
Leveraging AI, Drilling Technologies, Extraction, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage to Produce Reliable Electricity and Renewable Fuels.

Brief summary of the speakers at this event online with topics they spoke about:
  • Dr. Omid H. Ardakani, who is a Research Scientist at NRCan’s Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) and the General Secretary for IEA’s Task 49: Natural Hydrogen, spoke about the hydrogen and helium research at the GSC.  He indicated that the GSC is planning to release a set of maps and related data about Geologic Hydrogen and helium in Canada in 2025.
  • Dr. David Layzell, who is the Research Director at the Transition Accelerator and Emeritus Professor from the University of Calgary, spoke about hydrogen and the transition to NetZero emission energy systems.
The moderator, Paul Stevers, then spoke about about how climate action can be scaled up through collaboration, proven technologies and government incentives.  For people who are interested in doing so, we will invite them to visit this webpage to watch this video and view links to more information:

As the UN Secretary General said, “Our world needs climate action on all fronts — everything, everywhere, all at once”.  To maximize cost-effectiveness and impact, innovative technologies can and should be combined.  For example, shown below is a schematic illustrating a combination of wind farms, solar farms, energy storage and electricity generation from Geologic Hydrogen that can provide reliable power, which can be implemented in many places in the world:
